I am so freaking tired of "BREAKING NEWS". Anything that used to be regular news is now

BREAKING NEWS! OK-so the Muslim ban block qualifies-my timing wasn't that great for this post!

or bit of trivial news as though it were of life or death importance and deliver it breathlessly at least ten times an hour.

They'll never report the real stories, of course, like the falling purchasing power of most Americans and the vastly increasing wealth of the richest and how they're connected. Oh, no, can't have that, can we?

I turned broadcast news off in 2004. I consider it all unwatchable now.

You know its nothing but a ruse when the OPs plop their posts in General Discussion rather than Breaking News, and then add "BREAKING NEWS" alert to make it appear more interesting than other threads on the same subject.
