Royal Robbins died yesterday.

Most people would say WHO? Royal Robbins was one of Americas preeminent rock climbers, a true giant in the field. I had a distant relative, Bob Kamps who climbed with him. The death of RR leaves Yvon Chouinard, as the most prominent of the classic American climbers.

RIP

I read through his primers in climbing techniques when I was 10-12. I remember all the old photos of him with the other legends. He was up there with Layton Kor and Warren Harding for me.
