I really need to re-think my being grateful for many things. I just read a horror story of how

#45 wants to knock off Meals on Wheels and scrap assistance for heat to low income families. That is truly disgraceful. Unfortunately I have always pretty much taken for granted of living in a toasty apartment (it's 40 something degrees right now in Florida), and have food aplenty in the fridge and cabinets. I have a healthy bank account which I worked for and saved and just took for granted that most my age are living the same way. I was so wrong. Wheels on Meals is not only food but the seeing, talking and communicating with another human during the day when you are living alone. Heat, even here in Florida, is not always a given. We have cold spells and next week it will hit again. I am grateful for all of those things in my life. I have no serious health problems, age-appropriate pains and aches are the extent. This cancelling of MOW and heat assistance to those who need it is mind boggling. If one is sick and suffering, these proposed Bills will add to the misery. I don't know if these Bills have to appear in front of the House and Senate to go through, but when I call my rep (Lois Frankel is mine and she is great) I shall tell her it is close to murder, which it is..

Be grateful every day for what you have, you just never know when it will be gone.

Volunteered many times to do daily runs. Number one thing I found is this, the thing we emphasized was,it the Person physically okay, many never have Social contact with the outside world. Heard stories about folks making their runs and finding Seniors needing Emergency Care ASAP. If it was not for the Meals Person, they would have probably passed away.

This is the face of the GOP,get sick,oh well,go die some where.

the social value of Meals on Wheels. Some folks who get the meals delivered may only pick at their food, but they would never go without it because they value those precious moments of having a chat with the delivery person. It's a sad statement, but a reality for a significant number of elderly people.

Not in the sense that he'd likely try to touch the nice lady inappropriately, but for Drumpf to understand how much that service means to someone like the person you're referring to.

He simply lacks compassion.

Actual budgets are created and approved by Congress, and this one will not go through as written.

Taking the ax to the Environmental Protection Agency or to State Department aid programs may excite Mr. Trump’s supporters, but he is unlikely to succeed to the extent he would like.

His budget is simply a starting point and any cuts would have to be made through the congressional appropriations process. Though in the minority, Democrats retain significant leverage in crafting that legislation and can block bills they oppose in the Senate.

“Enacting appropriations law — as opposed to proposing nonbinding budget resolutions — will likely require Democratic votes,” Representative Nita Lowey of New York, the senior Democrat on the Appropriations Committee, noted tartly on Monday. It is doubtful cuts of the kind being proposed will fly.

But even the fact that he, probably with the "help" of Steve Bannon, proposed these cuts shows you what an evil bastard he is.

The people who benefit from MOW and heating assistance, probably are, as you stated, infirmed and without a lot of social contact. Many cannot go anywhere without someone else taking them. So from Trump's perspective, these are not the people who will get out to vote.

He is creating his own "Death Panel". Let the elderly and infirmed die by not heating their homes and starving them. No skin off his nose.

He is a monster, a creep, a diabolical unfeeling waste of skin and bone.

In other words, this tank would feed X senior shut-ins for the day. Or whatever piece of military hardware.

And then pass out sheets with this info at every single airshow and military parade. I'm so fucking mad right now. And I am supposed to go to a reunion of my boyfriend's old unit (HMX- the ones that run Marine One for the President) next month and I am pretty sure I will want to give those folks a piece of my mind, having to sit and listen to whatever jingoistic bullshit there will be.

So I need to be armed with facts. Like, "Do you know that tank over there is equivalent to 1 millions bottles of water for Flint residents (or pick whatever other disaster)?" "Does it make you happy to know senior citizens are going hungry so you can play your war games?"

he was getting "meals on wheels." The food was awful, but the woman who delivered it was a gem.. I hated to stop it, and told her to drop by any day just to chat if she wanted to.

Some of the people volunteer to deliver meals because they themselves are lonely. I did it for a few months when I was unemployed and met some of the neatest people.

like passing a budget like this would kill the GOP and Reaganism. However, many of the Teaparty reps are nihilists in the service of 'Winning' by following an unworkable and mutated ideology that now seems to be TAX CUTS for the rich and SCREW the TAKERS (any and all government programs that serve citizens.) Fed diets of Brietbart, Fox, NewsMax and Drudge which are doused in cruelty of a draconian flavor - God knows what they would be willing to pass.
