(58,785 posts)from what he and the Republican caucuses in congress are up to?
Did you know that the Koch caucus in the house (aka "Freedom caucus," aka tea party extremists/"conservative hard liners"/religious right nuts/new-generation John Birchers) has aligned with Rump's Rasputin, Bannon, on destroying the ACA?
Rump had promised voters to rename the ACA and make it even better--give them more for less. Rump now knows that's impossible (he couldn't pass single payer even if he wanted to). So, here we are. Rump ALWAYS distracts when he knows he's up to no good. So the wiretapping claim backfired a bit on him, plus it caused Ryan's "Republican study group/hard-core economic conservatives" faction trouble. He loves causing trouble because it means attention for him. In the end his distraction multifunctioned for him.
One might just as well complain that the press has stopped pandering to Rump's narcissism--and stopped encouraging further dysfunctional acting out--by showing his face on TV very little. Corrupt bastards that they are!? How DARE they refuse to serve his megalomania?
A very little research will find that a major issue for the media today is HOW to cover Rump accurately and responsibly--without allowing him to manipulate them and shape the story.

I keep thinking I am missing some bit of history between them or there is something I just don't understand.
Is it something as simple as misogyny? And if so, why would he display it on the world stage like that in front of everyone? I just can't believe his behavior. It is incomprehensible to me.
Someone clue me in if I am missing something, please.

(5,815 posts)He said terrible things about her during the campaign last year. No links to offer, but the news media had a compilation of the comments he made about her and not one was something you'd say to cement a friendship or business relationship, much less diplomacy. He seemed to not understand that the things he said on the trail would come back to haunt him if he won. I guess that was just another indication that he never expected to actually win.

She deserved better than to be greeted by a whiny, sulking kid pretending to be president

(22,052 posts)60+ million of our fellow citizens voted for this man to be our president.
In fact, he is the perfect representation of those Americans who voted for him.
Those voters and this president represent the classic image of the Ugly American.
It's disgusting and all of those people are deplorable.

(12,894 posts)as to how many REALLY voted for him. Russia's involvement in this election is not only obvious, but it has tainted ALL results.
When someone wins the popular vote by the margin Hillary did, it shows something stinks to high heavens.

(5,106 posts)during the last few decades , I guess since Reagan (hah). He badmouthed the Bushes along with Clinton and Obama. Every indication, in the western world, at least, showed President Obama had regained a lot of respect---often more in the world in general than much of the U.S. Trump's denigration of EVERYTHING in the nation and the world was a total crock to anyone with enough time in their lives to pay attention. Things were not going well for many of us, however, and those who knew of Trump only through his television "Apprentice" persona, were ripe for the plucking. And that is Trump's method of operation. He had no idea of how government worked when he took office, and he obviously didn't "bone up" after the election. He's at a total loss and was clueless about picking any of the "best and brightest" to help him, so he picked the shysters. He has no idea, as well, of any diplomacy in dealing with the rest of the world leaders-except Putin. Putin knew a little flattery toward this asshole would be all he needed. What he REALLY thinks of Trump should frighten all of us. Putin is dragging his part of the world back to what existed during the Cold War years in which I grew up. This time, however, the POTUS thinks he's a good buddy as long as he's flattered. What A Mess!

(1,685 posts)Merkel was kind of humiliated being with this jerk. Hell, I like the idea of countries paying more for NATO. But let's face it, we need less troops over there, no matter the invasion of Crimea.
But no respectable leader should meet with the cheeto POS. There's no deals to have. Art of the deal my ass.
