But, I think the answer is he doesn't understand what power the President has and does not have. He thinks he is running for CEO where he would have the power to do whatever he wishes. I really don't think Mitt has a clue how anything works in government.

I.E, - defund it.

Think Bush tax cuts when Cheney voted as VP to break a tie.

10. That is exactly their technique and they've used it to shut down the government before.

It's also a way to stop any debate or arguments. Good programs have been eliminated under GOP rule in many states. Things that had served so many people that the citizens took them for granted like water systems - would just be there forever.

Systems that were paid for and employed thousands and helped millions. That no one except privatization freaks wanted gone for their own advantage. No crisis needed, no discussion allowed.

Bring thousands of people to protest, professionals to explain, all the legal and Constitutional reasons, laid bare, the taxes and work of generations ignored.

Just cut its throat. That's what they want.

Democrats have talked about it and if Romney wins, god forbid, republicans will do it.

He claims he intends on doing it "on the very first day" that he is President. All by his lonesome.

9. Not all by his lonesome, but he could certainly do it on the first

If Republicans hold the house, get 50 senators and the White House (God forbid), it could be the first thing he does after being sworn in.

It could already have passed the House, the Senate could be called into session, the new VP breaks the tie, and the new President signs the bill.

Highly unlikely, but certainly possible.
