What happens to hospital tax districts?

The link below is from 2001, but it may shed some light on hospital tax districts, related bodies and how they fit into the scheme of things. The amount of money they handle in Texas is an eye-grabber, and again this report was from 2001. In any event, regardless of where you live you might want to have a close look at your tax bill and see if a little something is going for hospital taxes. And ask yourself what role these tax bodies will have under Affordable Health Care Act. I've asked myself and came up blank. Maybe someone out there has an answer.
