Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAccording to Maddow tonight Schiff now says that he's seen "more than circumstantial evidence"...
... of the Trump campaign's collusion with the Russian's interference with the 2016 election.
So today's charade could have been concocted in the Oval Office when Nunes hurried over there. He saw what Schiff saw. He needed to huddle with the White House face to face for them to come up with a plan to muddy the waters in the hopes of confusing the public and consolidating the support of his followers. Phone calls may not be secure enough.
I now also suppose that this dirt on the campaign is one of the reasons why Speaker Ryan won't put off the vote on the health care bill. They need every bit of dust in the air that they can muster as they scramble to cover their dirty asses.
Just sayin'.

(46,166 posts)Maybe he was keeping it from Schiff and then scrambled when he learned that Schiff finally found out.
Oh to be a fly on the wall of the committee's executive session.
Btw, people here at DU were wondering if we had a key figure who rivaled the shining stars of the Watergate era. Now one has emerged and his name is Schiff.

(73,605 posts)We should all be contacting his office, and requesting he submit a resolution to censure Trump for his lies about President Obama.

(46,166 posts)Nunes could be knee deep in the mess.
Or he could just be a dupe who doesn't want to take the fall...

We're in a new stage, people. Trump is not in control
and it sure looks like a scramble inside their fortress.

(34,845 posts)I know she's on our side but reporting what someone else has reported doesn't merit singling her out, imo.

(46,166 posts)I wasn't even trying to act as if she was the first to report it. I was only putting together a theory based on what I learned after I learned it.

(34,845 posts)She's great at what she does, no doubt about it, but she attracts a little too much hero worship, imo. That's okay, though, I'll shut up about her now.

(46,166 posts)I wasn't watching her broadcast for some time and then I read how she was putting things together lately. So I started watching again and her crew was doing a lot with very little resources. She's been worth watching again. Hope it continues.

That doesn't even count the queasy moderate Rs who know their constituents will remember who took their health insurance away or sent their premiums into space on a rocket powered by tax breaks for the rich and huge cash handouts to insurance company CEOs.

(46,166 posts)It's certainly a lose-lose for the GOP no matter how the vote goes if it's held.
I can also see Trump leaning on Ryan to hold the vote because he needs to take our minds off today's events.

I doubt if Ryan is much afraid of Trump anymore. Why would Ryan choose to weaken himself for Trump's benefit? I'll be shocked if they vote. I'll fall right over in a dead faint if it actually passes - but let's just say, I'm not overly worried about hitting the floor tomorrow.
I so want to tune into C-Span and watch the votes tally and not reach the magic number. Ryan says then it will be over and I'm ready for that.
And if it does pass then I want to watch the Senate start to sweat. Those bastards are counting on it going down so they don't have to touch that big pile o' crap. But they'll have to touch it again and again...

(135,874 posts)this is where schiff tells todd they have more than circumstantial evidence (he reveals this right around the 6:00 mark)

(46,166 posts)I never watch Todd. But I guess everybody is worth watching these days except Greta.
So they both saw the info and then Nunes went running to daddy. Like Lawrence pointed out, Nunes is in way over his head. But he sure was good at throwing dust up in the air with his "variations on a theme" answers to the press today when he left the White House. That political skill will only get him so far.
Like one guy on CNN said - watching Nunes today was watching him pour gas on himself and light the match. I can't imagine what Nunes is thinking tonight.
Thanks again!
