My personal thoughts are that Nunes saw
transcripts that he recognized as himself or conversations he was party to (that's why he told Schiff that the masked people were easily recognized) and he freaked out and knew that he couldn't call or email. He went to the WH to make sure his ass would stay covered. I think Bannon sent him out to the press with that weird presser.
People don't generally set their career on fire to save someone else. He was saving his own ass.

Sure, he reps a red district...but it's in CA. I'm not from CA but I've worked around the state for over a year, including some time in his district. There's a reason it's nickname is the armpit of California (aka "the Central Valley"
. The time I spent there I used TripAdvisor website to look for places to eat and things to do. You know it's bad when the Top 10 Places to Eat list in a city is made up mostly of fast food chains.
He has nothing in that area that could benefit drumf financially or politically. Nunes needs drumf more than drumf needs him. So we know how this will play out if Nunes got his hands dirty and now has run to the bully for help. Too bad, so sad.....
