President Donald J. Trump Must Resign Forthwith!

It is that simple. As the evidence against him and the illegal activity surrounding his campaign grows, that conclusions becomes more and more clear. There is no need for a lengthy impeachment and removal process or the use of the clumsy and iffy 25th Amendment. What is needed is that everyone, including the Republicans in Congress, insist that he resign.

I believe that is what will end this awful man's time as President, and also believe that it should happen as soon as possible. He has corrupted the entire process of electing a President, and holds office based on falsehoods.

I suggest we all make it clear to our members of Congress and Senators that President Trump must resign. Congress can, and should censure the President for his illegal acts that led to his election. A simple resolution to that effect would serve as a vote of "No Confidence," and force him to resign from his office.

Please contact your Senators and Congressional Representative and demand that this occur as soon as possible.

Thank you!

from the presidency even if he were to be impeached by the House and found guilty in the Senate.

He is totally incapable of recognizing any reality but the one that exits in his head.

before too much more time passes. He is not happy in his work. He is not happy in his life. This is not what he imagined it would be.

He will need a bit of prodding, but he will do it. He may even need some sort of promise that he will not be prosecuted after leaving office. Vice President Pence can provide that to him with a blanket pardon.

Donald Trump will resign, and sooner rather than later. Count on it.

And we'll have to see all those who the evidence is against.

It would be better if Trump resigned before that happens. Vice President Pence can assure him that a pardon will be signed, much as President Ford did for Nixon. As much as I hate that idea, I would accept it if it led to Trump leaving the White House.

million Americans who voted (many of them misguidedly) for him. His resignation should come only after the House Judiciary Committee reports out articles of impeachment against him (just like in 1974). Anything sooner than that risks further undermining our constitutional system of governance. Yeah, I want him gone but via due process of law.

A resignation requires no due process whatsoever. It is an act of an individual and requires nothing but a letter over that individual's signature. Nixon did it, and was gone. Yes, he was under a cloud of impeachment, but such is not required for a President to resign. Nothing is required.

It would also not be an act of betrayal to those who voted him. He already committed that act through his lies.

If he resigned today, it would not be too soon, and it could take effect immediately. We have a process to replace him with no transition time at all.

interests. For Trump to resign now would mean betraying that confidence they placed in him.

Don't get me wrong. I want to see him gone as much as the next Dem (or more). But I want to see him resign under threat of certain impeachment and removal, not to forestall those threats. Under no circumstances do I want his exit to paper over the natue of the offesnes he has committed and is like to commit if allowed to remain in power.

It would take a lot more than a vote of censure to dislodge him from the WH. For one, thing, he's an egomaniac who won't ever back down no matter how wrong he is or how he has failed at something. In his own rat's nest of a mind he never loses and he's always right. Resigning would be an admission of failure and he just won't do it. The only thing that's going to get his ugly orange ass out of there is probably impeachment and conviction - or maybe some nefarious machination by Putin, if ol' Vlad decides Trump has outlived his usefulness.

As things develop, which they are doing at an accelerating pace, he may not need as big a push as you might think. A blanket pardon from his successor could be promised, as well. That would be very tempting, I think, as things develop.

The one constant theme of his entire career is that he never admits he's wrong, mistaken or weak in any way. The only way he leaves voluntarily is if he can come up with some kind of face-saving excuse (wanting to spend more time with his family won't cut it; obviously his wife doesn't want much to do with him). I imagine him being wheeled out of the WH strapped down on a hand truck, wearing a white coat with leather straps and a face mask like Hannibal Lecter.

Any scenario involving Trump resigning will include the following concepts:

The fake news and biased media are beneath my attention.
I'm too good for this job.
The haters don't deserve me as President.
I sacrificed everything because I love this country.
My businesses need me.
I've already put in place the mechanisms to make America great again.
The system is rotten, corrupt, rigged, etc.
Fuck all of you.

His sole intention would be to make it look like it was HIS choice, he did it all HIS way and he's leaving because he's too good for the job. With one big nose-thumbing and a sneering: "NYAAAAH!" to everyone.

To which I would respond: "Yeah, whatever, you fucking crybaby. Get the hell out of the White House and run back to your shitty bankrupt businesses!"

There are those warning Pence would be worse. Couldn't possibly be. At this point I just want Trump GONE. As in we never hear anything from or about the asshole ever again.

Less "insane" but equally illegitimate and also a criminal conspirator. The question that's bothering me is who Pence will pick as his VP.

Will it be a "dead-man-switch" pick... someone like Cruz... someone so AWFUL that the thought of Pence resigning or being impeached (and installing Cruz) would be worse than allowing him to serve out the term?

We're going to have to wait until 2018 to correct our grievous error of 2016, wherein we did not turn out enough voters to elect Hillary Clinton and a majority in the Senate. One way or another, that is the fact.

However, a President Trump can not be tolerated until then. He is far too dangerous. Pence, despite his loathsome characteristics, is a politician first, and can be somewhat controlled. Trump is a madman, so no control is possible.

It's Hobson's Choice, but it is the only choice available at the moment.

Flailing and failing DFT, or orthodox batshit crazy Pence? Either can destroy the Republican Party, but one more obviously and quickly without being very effective. And the more unpopular the person in office, the more opposition and pushback there will be.

It's magical thinking to believe Trump would resign over a vote of "no confidence". Anyone who lacks respect for him is just a loser anyway.

Trump will resign and blame it on the Deep State. He will allege that from the time he announced his candidacy that the "establishment" was out to get him. That the fake media, the fake IC, everyone was out to get him.

Dear Leader's followers will buy this steaming pile of Horse Hockey and continue on their merry (or opiated) way.

His resignation speech will be all about how he said the system was rigged and he knows now more than ever it is rigged. He'll be the victim. He'll get his pardon. In 2020 there will be a reality show to pick an independent candidate to run for president. Trump will be the sole judge. It will be a ratings fiasco, sending him off for good.
