Angry Trump voters blame everyone but the president for US healthcare failThe day after the flaming out of U.S. President Donald Trumps first major legislative initiative, his supporters across America were lashing out at conservatives, at Democrats, at leaders of his Republican Party in Congress. Only Trump himself was spared their wrath.
Many voters who elected him appeared largely willing to give him a pass on the collapse of his campaign promise to overhaul the U.S. healthcare system, stressing his short time in office.
Being a businessman, hell not take no for an answer, said Tony Nappi, a 71-year-old from Trinity, Florida, one of the many disappointed Republicans on his weekend softball team. Hell get the job done.
Support for Trump appeared unflagging, from the playing fields of a Republican stronghold in central Florida to the small town diners of North Carolina, the suburbs of Arkansas and the streets of working-class Staten Island in New York City.

(18,837 posts)Trump is a "businessman" who "didn't know fixing healthcare was so difficult," and Ryan should have known that as a businessman he wouldn't have understood it, so it's Ryan's fault.
I cannot see how Ryan is going to survive the week. Trump and Bannon need a sacrificial lamb. It's going to be Ryan, and probably Priebus as well.

(61,712 posts)Remember how difficult it was to find a replacement when Boehner quit. Ryan was reluctant to take the job. I don't see anybody else stepping up who would have enough support among the polarized Republicans.
This is an opportunity for Democrats to align with the "moderate" wing of the R party and forge a majority in opposition to the bat shit crazy Freedom Caucus. We'll see if it happens.

(18,837 posts)...they all uniformly loathe Ryan, and they have named Gowdy and Gingrich as their choice for a replacement.
About half of the people responding to Gowdy as an option see the Benghazi hearings clown, a showboat who chases for the next sound byte.
The only thing they agree on is that they don't like Ryan.

(182,925 posts)This is of their own doing as I wrote about here. They have a small group holding their majority at bay. The "Freedom Caucus"are basically Teabaggers who have no interest in any government of any kind. The demands they made to drop what IS health insurance were remarkable, come time for the taxes battle they are going to want god knows what.
McCain said this week that Congress simply isn't capable of doing the Russian investigation. That's pretty telling for a Senator to say but he's right. The place is a nuthouse. We have leadership that can't lead, a tiny number of crazed zealots creating almost a 3 party system that we aren't used to, and a Senate without "Lions" to control their own grandstanding media whores.
BTW not to sound alarmist but we really are vulnerable right now. The POTUS is incapable and may be under two different controlling powers - internal (literally inside the WH) and external.
