They had to twist both of Ryan's arms to take the job. No one wanted it back then either.

She remained close to Elizabeth and Edward, too.

When they came to her and asked if she would accept divorce, including a large financial settlement, she eagerly agreed, very relieved that she wasn't framed for infidelity and beheaded. She went on to become something unheard of in those times, a rich, single woman.

She actually looked to be the most attractive, out of all of his wives. And, next to Catherine Parr, probably the smartest.

5. I don't think Ryan will step down. He is third in line to the presidency, he won't give up the power

7. Unless they impeach Trump and Pence at the same time.

If Trump gets impeached, then Pence becomes President and selects a new VEEP, who then becomes next in line for Pres.

If Pence gets impeached first, then Trump selects a new VEEP, who then becomes next in line for Pres.

The only way that Ryan gets to be Pres is if either they both get impeached at the same time, or if some disaster occurs that takes them out at the same time.

Ryan has a way better chance (virtually nil) of getting elected President than he does succeeding to it.

9. Not necessarily. The newly picked Veep must be confirmed in both Houses of Congress.

If either gets impeached and a cloud hangs over the other, there won't be any newly chosen Veep confirmed with a second impeachment hanging over the White House. If nothing else, it will get held up via procedural moves.

8. Isn't he SECOND in line to it? In any case, the process will NOT work that route.

First the VP, then the Speaker?

The President, by definition, is not "in line" to it.

In any case likely to happen, Ryan will not get it that way.

The only way Ryan accedes is if tRump and Pence both die or become incapacitated before either can appoint a successor.

If tRump resigns or is impeached, Pence steps up and appoints a new VP.

If Pence resigns or is impeached, tRump appoints a new VP.

Both scenarios happened with Nixon-Agnew. Agnew got indicted and Nixon appointed Ford as a VP. Nixon then resigned and Ford stepped up and appointed Rockefeller as VP.

Ryan will not be offered either appointment and would not accept because he does not want to be Gerald Ford losing to Carter in 2020. He wants to be Reagan beating Carter in 2024.
