Mark Hamill Honors Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds: They Are a Part of Us All

Mark Hamill paid tribute to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds as their public memorial began in California on Saturday.

“We Remember Them…” he wrote in a Twitter post, accompanied by images of the mother-daughter duo through the years. “As long as we live, they too shall live. For they are a part of us all.” He recalled in a separate collage, “Then there was the time she promised if I went 1st-she’d heckle my funeral. Fiercely funny-I know she would also like us all to laugh today.”

Fisher, who led the cast of the original Star Wars trilogy with Hamill and Harrison Ford, died Dec. 27 in Los Angeles. Reynolds passed away the following day from a stroke. Three months later, crowds gathered for a public memorial held at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills to pay their respects.

I wish I still had a link to the pic of Mark visiting a hospitalized child and letting the kid listen to his heart.

I walked out of the first Star Wars movie "A New Hope" (no 4) elated. .I felt great and wonderful..I didn't know that I would go back to the theaters 6 more times to see it..It just felt right..I loved the Princess who reported to Obi Wan Kanobi ...Hell, I didn't know who she was,,,It was a wonderful performance in my mind. And that movie was ...well...lots of fun and uplifting.. It was very special...1977....

In 1980 or 81 they were having a winter festival in Chicago, and one of the downtown theaters, was playing a film that had been on my list for many years.."Singing in the Rain"...So, I got on the train, and went downtown to see it. It was supposed to be a "great" movie..but..well, it was on my list..Seeing that film the first time, was also a great and wonderful experience. The incredible art ..of the musical, dancing and comedy rolled into one. And there was a young lady...Debbie Reynolds.. playing the lead. It was made in 1952..i saw it for the first time almost 30 years later.

.But the two lead women in these two films were mother and daughter.. And most important,, their careers gave tens of millions of movie goers feelings of joy and happiness. While the backgrounds of these two are fascinating and admirable, the essence of presentations was joy and happiness.. Different generations for different times with the end result the same. Giving joy and happiness to tens of millions of people. Neither started out that way, but that is indeed quite a legacy for a mother and daughter...

May they rest in peace
