Whether Trump was involved is the probes core question
Asked if there was evidence of direct links suggesting the President played any role in Russias interference, Burr said that was the ultimate question the committee would seek to answer.
We know that our challenge is to answer that question for the American people in our conclusions to this investigation, said Burr, who noted that he voted for Trump in November.
He and Warner also said it was too early to definitively reject coordination between Trumps campaign team and Russian officials, saying they would let this process go through before we form any opinions.

Committee has more access to classified information than it had in previous probes
The senators said the classified information they have been able to access far exceeded what was available to them during their investigation of the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.
Seven committee staffers assigned to sift through thousands of intelligence documents have access to information typically only available to the most senior members of Congress, known as the Gang of Eight, the senators said.
That is unprecedented in the history of the committee, Burr said, adding that this makes it easier for the committee to determine who needs to be interviewed.

(8,982 posts)1. I don't trust Burr
This smells like they are going to whitewash it and try to prevent an independent investigation

(28,795 posts)2. count on it. he's in on it too, at very least from a tangential standpoint
he was one of trump's campaign natsec advisory council, as they called it.
think he didn't know something
I'll bet they were ARROGANTLY communicating about stuff all through the campaign
trump/manafort had been money laundering for so long without so much as a peep from invesigators, they thought they could, oh, run down fifth avenue, shoot somebody, then brag about all the oligarch money they laundered through their NYC real estate scams
the OBVIOUS example was trump's 50 plus MILLION dollar profit on that miami place.....ryboblev, was it?

(8,982 posts)4. He is chair of senate IC, your damn right he knows
The entire GOP leadership knows how big this is, and if the dam breaks it's going to blow up their entire party
It's going to be real interesting to see how this all plays out

A former Trump anything? Their hearings with actual witnesses will not be public, which sounds like they want to cover up.
