And the margin in the Senate is razor thin.

I would prefer that it go through the impeachment process because I want EVERYTHING to be uncovered, including Pence's involvement.

(that means at least 19 Republicans).

If not, you've effectively acquitted him.

“When you strike at a king, you must kill him.”--Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you initiate Impeachment charges, you MUST carry it through to conviction and removal. Any other outcome is worse than doing nothing.

Did Republicans succeed because they were able to successfully impeach (but NOT CONVICT) Bill Clinton?

I like the sentiment but there is not enough public information to support a charge.

The Nunes story does not have enough dots connected.

Sally Yates has not testified.

Only the how Russia did it picture is starting to form.

I think we will get there in the end, but it's too soon.

Just my opinion.

I would prefer we get it done when it will stick.

If we go too early and don't get convictions this entire episode will become the "I told ya so" for every crooked Republican out there to use in his denial.

There's too much at stake here to take chances like that.

Again, just my opinion.

pointing to all of them. If we get rid of Trump now the others might get away with their crimes and we're back to the Russians hacking our elections in 2018 and 2020.

Sometimes it's best to be patient. It will pay off much more. We really do need to get to the absolute bottom of this.

We need one of two things to make an impeachment work. One of them - a majority in the House and at least 66 Democrats in the Senate - we MIGHT be able to get in a possible (there is a nonzero chance Orange Hitler gets reelected) second Trump term. We could have done it in November, but it would have required running the table in the Senate races.

The other thing is more likely, if we can convince enough Republicans to sign off on it: a thorough investigation of Trump's business dealings and political sycophants. If we can prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that Trump is engaged in conduct so egregiously illegal that the voters issue Congress an "either you or him" ultimatum, he's gone.

Without that kind of investigation, Trump will survive impeachment and he'll get worse. With it, we can take down not only Trump but also Pence, Trump's entire cabinet, AND, if we can prove pre-election criminality that would have kept him from getting elected if it was known to the public, Neil Gorsuch.
