GOP scrambles to head off special election disaster
In Georgia, Democratic energy is surging in one of the first congressional elections of the Trump era.
By Elena Schneider 03/30/17 12:25 PM EDT Updated 03/30/17 01:59 PM EDT

Republicans are increasingly anxious that a splintered GOP field could lead to a Democratic upset victory in one of the first congressional elections of the Trump era.

Once an unthinkable prospect in the conservative suburban Atlanta seat left vacant by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, party officials now concede that Jon Ossoff, a 30-year-old Democrat, could steal a district that’s been in GOP hands for decades.

Mounting worries have led the GOP’s House campaign arm to set up its independent expenditure operation, part of a “battle plan” to get involved “in short order,” National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Stivers of Ohio told POLITICO.

This is a chance for the public to see how awful conservative ideas are in practice and they'll be open to actually listening to a liberal idea.

I've said this for years now, but I believe we are on the verge of a huge progressive wave. This (trump) is just part of what will be feeding it.

we need the people that haven't been voting the last 20 years to wake the fuck up and get involved. The country is going to hell in a handbasket while they're home watching Honey BooBoo episodes and Dancing with the Stars.

Shit, 50% and more of the eligible voting public hardly ever gets out for elections. That is where we mine the 20% or so to flip the government.
