Apple being blackmailed

www.google.com/amp/bgr.com/2017/03/22/apple-iphone-and-icloud-accounts-hacked/amp/

Apple’s iPhones and Apple IDs are a tough nut to crack for hackers, but it’s not impossible. At least that’s what a group of hackers seem to suggest, as they’re currently attempting to blackmail Apple for up to $100,000 before they start remotely wiping millions of iPhones. Can they actually do it? Should you be worried? It’s unclear at this point.

The hackers are threatening to move forward with remotely wiping Apple devices on April 7th, unless Apple pays up. Apple hasn’t publicly commented on the matter at this point. On the off-chance that the hackers are indeed holding access to millions of iCloud accounts, you might consider changing your password to protect your Apple ID.

Might not happen but if I owned an iPhone I would be changing my password just in case. Easy to change a password but could be disastrous if these guys actually can wipe devices and you didn't take the couple of minutes to do it.

Wouldn't make it any less devastating if it is true.

Not saying it is but it takes nothing to change a password , it will really be painful for many if they chose to ignore it and they wake up to a wiped phone.

Just trying to give a heads up April 7 is the day they say they will do it if they aren't paid.

However they also said there was no problem with the antennas and they also said there was no battery problem.

They don't exactly have the best track record in these sorts of things.

Also there is this..

Apple

, however, released a statement denying that its servers had been hacked. Instead, it seems that the login information comes from the 2012 LinkedIn hack.

Game over, right? Apple wasn't breached, so everything is fine? Well, not so much. Turkish Crime Family handed over sample data to ZDNet, which the publication verified as actual login information. The publication spoke to 10 people who verified their data.

It only takes a few minutes to change your password if I had an iPhone I would get that done just in case. Changing your password periodically is a good practice anyway.

That changing passwords is enough really.

For years they had the same root password - alpine - and the worry was always that people could use that to access phones etc.

A small business can save a ton moving to office 365 servers.

They are disabling functions that many business and creative people use, shifting talent over to revamping iPads, that still look the same then taken apart. Oh, but they are now offering a Red iPone again. Wow! The technology is so impressive. Diehard Apple fans are jumping ship in droves. Cook makes some lame statement that he hasn't forgotten the Mac people, as their hardware becomes lame and ready to be sent to the glue factory.

It's pretty bad when the used Apple market is thriving, since older machines are faster than the new offerings.
