Just thinking out loud . . . .

. . . . about possible longer range political strategies.

What's more important: the filibuster or Gorsuch? I really think Turtle would try to blow up the Senate and do away with it just to get the right wing wet dream installed on the court. I'm not so sure he has the support to get that done. I'm also not sure I want to test that theory. Maybe we act like we want to be tough on Gorsuch, carry it to the brink, and then move on?

I think it is pretty clear 45/140 will be less than a one term president. I think the GOPee will assemble a "Nixon Delegation" to visit the White House for tea with Donald. Unless Comey gets him first. Unless he trips over his own dick and takes himself out. Unless his health catches up to him. Or any number of other possible scenarios. I think the "Nixon Delegation" is the most likely to happen.

And that brings up the biggest fear I have, and that's the "what's next" question. Pence is likely even worse than what we have, but in a very different way. He's an ideologue who actually believes in this shit. One need only look at his gubernatorial term in Indiana for a sense of what he would do. I think we need to ensure that Pence is deeply investigated right along with all the other Russian shit. We know he's connected. We need to make sure that sticks.

Then there's Ryan. He's maybe our safest bet. He's already shown himself to be as effective as a fart in a windstorm. He's got enemies on the left (us) and on his right (the teabaggers). I think the country will survive a lame duck term with him in the caretaker seat. If we take one house of Congress in 2018 (hey, it could happen) any threat Ryan might pose (or Pence, for that matter) would be blunted significantly.

Again, just musings . . . .

Have full intention of using the nuke op regardless.
Let's say the Democrats lay down and Gorsuch is in.
Let's say some one dies before 2020.
We think we have the filibuster option.
Turtle then uses the nuke option.
Either way we lose.
Might as well lose fighting like the 300.
