The White House is ramping up its public battle with the ultraconservative House Freedom Caucus, singling out Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), one of the groups most unflinching members.
President Donald Trumps social media director Dan Scavino first needled Amash on Friday, tweeting that the Great Lakes State congressman refused to back the Republican Obamacare replacement bill because he puts politics before [Michigan.] Scavino included screenshots of articles about the congressmans decision not to vote for Trump, and of an Amash tweet criticizing the presidents rants about Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) in January.

I consider this feud with the Freedom Caucus a plus. The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy but at the end of their fight we will have one less problem to contend with.

FWIW, this is a great fight to see. That "freedom" caucus consists of the worst ideological fanatics in Congress. Somebody needs to fight with them.
A mutual admiration society would be far worse for the country.

(60,010 posts)A senior adviser to President Donald Trump on Saturday urged a primary challenge against a House Freedom Caucus member, prompting charges that he may have violated federal law against using his official position to sway an election campaign.
Dan Scavino Jr., director of social media and senior White House adviser, tweeted that Michigan Rep. Justin Amash is a "big liability" for the state and encouraged a GOP primary opponent to oust him in 2018.
".@realDonaldTrump is bringing auto plants & jobs back to Michigan. @justinamash is a big liability. #TrumpTrain, defeat him in primary," Scavino wrote.
But that tweet, sent from Scavino's personal Twitter account, immediately landed him in controversy as ethics lawyers called out Scavino for possibly violating the Hatch Act, a Depression-era law that regulates campaigning by government officials.

(23,954 posts)eventually they'll work out a new "healthcare" plan that sufficiently screws everyone south of the top 10% and everything will be a-okay between Trump and the Freedom Chokers.
