Researchers and patient organizations applauded the prices WTF???(CNN)Two new drugs were cleared to hit the market last week: an eczema drug that will cost $37,000 per year and one for multiple sclerosis that will cost $65,000.
The drugs drew both praise and criticism for their five-digit price tags.
Researchers and patient organizations applauded the prices, which were cheaper than similar drugs on the market. They hoped the prices would please insurers and make the drugs more widely available.
"We encourage other companies to follow suit, creating a drug pricing trend that keeps patients first," said Cyndi Zagieboylo, president of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in a statement about the multiple sclerosis drug Ocrevus.

(344 posts)1. Well, they're just plain stupid
They hoped the prices would please insurers and make the drugs more widely available.
"We encourage other companies to follow suit, creating a drug pricing trend that keeps patients first,"
"I hope my this starts a trend and my partner stops hitting me."
If you want to put an end to these ludicrous drug pricing schemes we need to reform the patent system and stop rewarding bad behavior.

More's the pity. We need to be able to personally import prescription drugs from India or Mexico, I think. Let the people shop wherever they wish for their prescribed medications.
Of course, there might be some risks associated with importing your own prescriptions, but that could be overcome, I think.
These prices are obscene. Totally obscene.
