Not the language I would have chosen, but I definitely prefer a democratic leader with fire in the belly.

On Friday, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez told activists in New Jersey that their protests were hitting the Trump administration where it hurt. He pointed to Jan. 21, the day of the Womens March, as the start of a resistance that had been more effective than critics ever expected.
Women marched all over the world and said: Donald Trump, you dont stand for our values! Perez said. Thats what they said. Donald Trump, you didnt win this election! If anyone didnt want to hear this, Perez had an answer: I dont care, because they dont give a s--- about people.
Hours later, the conservative Daily Caller posted clips of Perezs remarks for a story that was shared on Facebook more than 18,000 times. Ronna Romney McDaniel, the new chair of the Republican National Committee, demanded an apology for the dangerous remarks, snarking that Perez needs a lesson on how the electoral college works.
But Perez did not apologize. On Saturday, in Texas, he said exactly the same thing. In an email, Perez spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa explained that the DNC chair was not going to stop belittling Trumps victory.

(1,703 posts)Perez did not lie, so he should not apologize. Republicans don't care about people. People are merely the fodder for their dreams to become reality. Without the peasants, there is no joy in riches.

(8,736 posts)In a perfect republican world the poor peasants are dead or slaves and they can dive and swim into pools of money while they listen to the sweet, sweet sounds of people suffering.

(111,367 posts)and the outrage was fake. You know they say a lot worse than "shit" when they talk about us, but it's that right wing, patronizing chivalry toward fluttery little church ladies that pretends those ladies have never heard such a rough word before in their lives and wouldn't say it if they had a mouth full of it and need to be protected from it.
Fuck them all with rusty chainsaws.

(82,849 posts)The sensitive, delicate little flowers! So distressed are they because Tom Perez doesn't appreciate how their proposal yanking health insurance away from 24 million Americans shows how much of a shit they give about people.

It's about damn time we had leadership with some fire and backbone who didn't retreat at the sound of a fart or the word "liberal."

(14,178 posts)I am constantly looking for tiny silver linings in all of this clusterfuck that we may have to endure for a long time, and that is one. No longer can they dismiss any criticism that is laced with strong, even vulgar, language to make a point. They wanted to be big boys and girls and dismiss vulgarity as "locker room talk" for their own, even for the President of the United States of America. Insisting during the election that we shouldn't be so judgemental about descriptive expletives.
I have a particular disdain for the Evangelical Christian big church community, as it is the background that I escaped from. The blatant hypocrisy of purporting to follow in the humble footsteps of someone called Jesus, and for years, decades, used their influence, and even their pulpits, to demonize Obama and Democrats as foul mouthed worldly creatures that they were better than. And then proceded to encourage their flocks to vote for that pig. They now have zero credibility to demand apologies for appropriate strong even expletive language back at them. They have already relinquished that ground after championing a twice divorced, sexual abusing, narcissistic, self aggrandizing, vulgar piece of shit that he is.

(574 posts)There is an old saying in politics: One dollar at the beginning of the campaign is worth ten dollars on Election Day. Ok, I made that saying up, but it's consistent with my experiences. Please vote EARLY with your wallets.

(99 posts)I already got my form and envelope ready. $30 bucks isn't much, but not sending anything is a shame. It takes money to win and we need to win big in 2018. Every time I have some disposable income during a month between now and Nov. 2018, I'm going to send them a check, even if it's just $10 dollars.

Anyway, we all have to put it where we think it does the most or is most needed.
The thing is, if we are all putting what we can toward the resistance in some way, it all adds up.

(24,445 posts)I mean, why should he? If the shoe fits and all that. What have the Republicans done recently or over the past 8 years to prove that statement wrong? They blocked or filed lawsuits against tons of stuff that President Obama proposed or signed and everything they've been pushing and the Obama polices they've undone with Trump as POTUS will be harmful to the vast majority of Americans. They haven't done "Thing One" to prove that they care about anybody who isn't the "right" race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc. For a group of people whom claim to be "strong" and unapologetic and "non-PC" and are now being lead by a guy who unabashedly likes talking about grabbing women by the genitals, they seem to act like a bunch of crybabies the instant somebody stands up to them to their face. Get over it, Pubs!

(5,730 posts)Call it out. Repubs overstate and lie, in general.
Dems are so bloody careful that we understate, usually because the Repubs go nuclear on us if we tell it like it is.
Im ready for the Dems to just fucking say the truth, plainly without wincing words. Sometimes we yah yah all around trying not to offend anyone w the blunt truth.
We tell the truth, but we have often understated it so much or even just implied it, that it makes us look like our case is weak, instead of strong.
Thanks, Perez, for being out w it!!

(454 posts)and I was about to go off on a huge rant. I had been a bit doubtful of Perez after the whole DNC debacle, but I saw this speech and thought FINALLY! This is probably the first thing all year so far from the DNC that has given me some hope that the party might actually make some internal changes and start turning things around. I hope he never apologizes for speaking the truth, and no he should NOT tone it down. Not one bit. This is the sort of thing that is desperately needed all throughout the party.

(530 posts)What he said is the absolute truth and is so much less offensive than any of the dumpster's cabinet appointees, legislation being proposed/passed by the "Red" side of the aisles in both the House and Senate, the fact that the Senate Reds (that suits them better than "Republicans" didn't give Merrick Garland a vote and are now playing stupid hypocrite on the Gorsuch nomination, the possibility (likelihood?) that we have traitors serving in all areas of our government, ... I could go on ad infinitum but I won't. THEY HAVE REPEATEDLY SHOWN DO NOT CARE ABOUT OUR COUNTRY OR US. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES, THEIR PERSONAL WEALTH, AND THEIR DONORS!

It's no secret that the GOP doesn't want to govern, they want to control, to rule. Authoritarians just want us to shut the fuck up and let them conduct upward-flowing grand theft as usual.

He's absolutely right--repunks don't give a fying fluck about people--only about getting and keeping power, even at the expense of the Constitution. Hell will freeze over before he'll apologize for telling the truth.
