House bill for TrumpCare Take Two: "Exorbitant" fees for pre-existing and no key services

WASHINGTON ― House Republicans still don’t have a deal to revive their health care bill, but the White House is laying the groundwork for negotiations to move quickly, meeting individually Monday with moderates and conservatives to discuss a possible agreement.

That agreement, which is still far from a reality, would hinge on Republicans accepting changes to their health care bill that would violate a key promise from President Donald Trump, namely that insurers would have to offer plans to people with pre-existing conditions.

While those regulations would still technically exist, the idea is that the House bill would now allow states to opt out of “community rating” regulations, which compel insurers to offer plans at the same rate for sick people. Ditching those protections would let insurers charge exorbitant rates for people with pre-existing conditions while also offering plans that don’t offer key services, like maternity care, hospitalization or lab services. Conservatives believe those people would then go into so-called high-risk pools for coverage, but the effect would still likely lead to people who need health care the most paying the most ― or not being able to afford coverage at all.

Mensch/Steele Stories prove out. McConnell and Ryan will go defensive and try to blow up the House and Senate.

The Sleeper is,Repeal of ACA and a Tax Bill that increases the burden on the bottom 47% of the people in order to transfer a trillion dollars to the top 400 families. We have seen how McConnell and Ryan operate when they are threatened and it is all about Party and FU USA.

..."If you're a woman, you're a pre-existing condition." Wish I could properly attribute that but I don't remember where I read it.

It's true in a lot of other cases. If you've had bronchitis, you are theoretically a pre-existing condition from the waist up.

And as the article states, it's a key violation of Trump's campaign "promises."

I don't see Democrats coming within spitting distance of these ideas, and that means Trump will say they offered no help. What I see is a doubling down of the toxicity in the first bill, with a few new surprises.

for my husband's life. Since the election, I've been in a constant state of stress. I don't know if we'll have insurance tomorrow or not. It's really doing a number on his health, and mine.
With everything else so up in the air, it'd be nice to have one less worry.
