All The President's Men

I try to be a good pet parent and walk my furbaby at least twice a day. I take advantage of the time to listen to audiobooks as walking a Chihuahua is not a fast paced activity. My current listen is All The President's Men. I can't help but think of the times that we live in and really wish that there were a 21st Century version of Woodward and Bernstein chasing down the Russia story and getting the goods on Trump and all his minions. I know that Joy and Rachel are doing the best the can but the journalism that existed in the early 70s just doesn't exist today.

It's not just the journalism that existed back then. It is the trust that went along with it.

A lot more people trusted Walter Cronkite back then than trust virtually anyone in news today. A lot more folks had more faith in 60 minutes, the Washington Post or the NY Times back then.

A bunch of reporters could do some great journalism this week. But it will take many years before that trust is regained - if ever. And that trust went a long way towards how people conducted themselves. WaPo has done some good articles lately on Trump but earlier during 2016, I thought they stooped about as low as I'd ever seen them during the primaries. I'll never trust them the same way again after that.
