Frustration is soaring at Palm Beach County airport as Trump hogs everybody's airspace

PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Donald Trump is wreaking havoc on local businesses and wealthy aircraft owners who rely on the regional airports surrounding Mar-a-Lago, or what the president calls the "Southern White House."

Trump will host Chinese President Xi Jinping here beginning Thursday, creating what could be the longest air traffic shutdown around his resort ever. It's hoped that the two world leaders will use the opportunity to hash out their differences on several global topics, but the business owners and executives who use this air hub, known locally as Lantana Airport, are losing patience and money because of Trump's frequent visits.

They want to hash out their differences with the Secret Service.

When Trump visits, the Secret Service issues a Temporary Flight Restriction before his arrival. That essentially shuts down the airport for the duration of his stay.

This will be the seventh weekend Trump has stayed at Mar-a-Lago since his January inauguration. Aviation businesses run out of Lantana must come to a complete halt, planes are grounded and operations cease. The regional airport is 5 nautical miles south of Mar-a-Lago — which puts it right in the middle of the 10-mile no-fly ring.

It was ridiculous. Every day he and his entourage tied up traffic for hours.

Donald Trump is the kind of person who'd put truck nuts on a Rolls-Royce. He doesn't fit in with Palm Beach society whatsoever, and he's done everything in his power to piss off the populace. They're especially not fond of the goat fuck he made out of the Mar-a-Lago deal: the people who owned the place wouldn't sell it to him until he threatened to build a huge eyesore and block off Mar-a-Lago's ocean view. Once he got this fine single-family home, he turned it into the Bed And Breakfast From Hell.

Or retirees who were working people. We are not rich. We are all really upset ow this will mess up going home today and tomorrow. When even just 45 visits, 95 is closed for a long time, and traffic backs up for many, any miles.

People on here need to get over thinking PB is full of rich people.

I'm coming down for a visit in two weeks. I almost always fly into West Palm but I choose FLL this time in case the Orange Turd is in town. Don't need that headache.

If some city has to have him, why not just move the white house to Moscow? It can be the Eastern White House.

They had the Olympics there and there's lots of skiing. And it's also quite remote, the mountain areas near there can get snowed in during the winter.

It was almost a dead heat, 49.1% vs. 47.8%. Looks like a lot of Floridians didn't like him to begin with. And he's rapidly alienating the other 50% - along with most of the rest of the country. Just so far, he's managed to do so many rotten things, and everyone will be affected sooner or later. And he isn't slowing down! It boggles the mind!

Whoever coined the term "loose cannon" must have envisioned Trump! Every day there's something new and even worse! It was the "low information voters" who elected him, but a lot of people are waking up because sooner or later his systematic destruction of everything in this country is affecting them...

It's unbelievable that in this country a presidential election could be invalid, but it's looking more and more like that's the case. And it's really the only thing that makes sense. I still find it beyond my comprehension that anyone who was conscious for the past year or two could support this self important ignoramus and getting to the bottom of how this happened is one of the most important things we've ever done. The future of the country depends on it. .
