(14,837 posts)Even when he was lauded as some kind of savior, I had no use for him.

(99,710 posts)so he pretended to be a liberal.

(14,837 posts)It makes sense.
He was unmasked for me way back in the early Obama days. Listening to his show then it was clear he was pushing the right wing line on Obama care. He pretended to support it but conveniently knew very few actual details of the plan. I even called in once and fought with him over repeatedly pushing right wing talking points about the bill with no basis in reality.
Realized pretty quickly he had zero interest in the truth . As the next day he was right back to repeating the nonsense despite agreeing the day before what he was shoveling was not true.

(22,913 posts)I liked him then. It's been a long way downhill since then. Sure don't like him now.

(99,710 posts)Have you noticed that that wherever Ed landed on the ideological spectrum he always found himself in opposition to our party?
hlthe2b
(102,304 posts)and I surely don't think she bought the RW--> progressive "conversion" To be fair, though, there was also a lot of professional jealousy going on as well.
NightWatcher
(39,343 posts)I used to listen but refuse to do so now because of his connections to RT and how on the rare occasion since the orange one has taken office, he leads his show with some off the wall nonsense instead of Russian influence that was the lead everywhere else that day.
hlthe2b
(102,304 posts)There just are NOT a lot of options for progressive radio/media and I think his decision to go on RT was purely a pragmatic survival one.
Perhaps those who listen to him now can weigh in.

(39,343 posts)Thom was paid by RT...
Thom had Bernie on his show for years every week and gave him the platform on which to make his name.
We know that Russia stoked fires between Bernie and Hillary.
Thom was also selling a book about a crash coming in 2016....that never happened but...

(5,299 posts)despite having a automatic distrust of anyone who spells Tom with an H.
I stopped trusting him many years ago when he went on yet another rant on tariffs, and suggested trading tariffs for getting rid of birthright citizenship. I never trust anyone who is willing to trade away rights that don't affect themselves.

Must be the money.

(65,175 posts)Supposed to be a friend of the working class, but it comes across as phony. I do like Hartmann, however, and wonder why he is on RT. I don't think RT can exactly be independent on Russia.

(2,678 posts)Used to watch him, then he got canned. Now he's gone to the Dark Side. I have to wonder; did he actually ever really leave? Looks like, maybe, he didn't. He's a right winger at heart, never to be taken seriously again. Not ever!!!

(27,129 posts)I recorded his MSNBC show every day to watch it at my leisure.
I boycotted MSNBC for canceling him.
Now, I don't even recognize the guy.
He's like a different person. Did the Russians get to him?
So, no I don't have a favorable opinion and I doubt I ever will again.

(6,716 posts)I was shocked to find out that this was what he was doing. Sad, really.
Coventina
(27,129 posts)So I'm left wondering: Was he a hypocrite all along? If so, he's a fantastic actor. Or, did something happen to change him? If so, what?

(1,685 posts)I feel like next week, he can go back to being some sort of liberal. He's pay for play and he sucks.

(10,026 posts)Originally listened for Franken. Found Winsted and Maddow, Seder and Garafalo and Maron, Malloy, and of course Rhodes (found out about DU from her message board). Voices of reason that got me through the Bush years. Then the local station moved to WCPT and Air America eventually folded and I got to hear Miller, Malloy, Hartman, and Schultz. Of all the voices listed, Ed always seemed the least progressive to me. He seemed very populist when it came to the rural union man, but moderate to conservative on most other things. I stopped listening regularly to any radio/tv several years ago. I am curious however, did Ed become anti-union? If so, then I agree he was always in it for the money as an entertainment job.

(99,710 posts)Probably not. He has to hold on to it for a veneer of credibility.

(21,646 posts)always struck me as commenting and looking in on liberal causes from the outside. I was not surprised to find out he was a former conservative
I am tuning out RT considering all that has come to light since it is a global multi-lingual television news network based in Moscow and funded by the Russian government. On the left and right they are trying to bring America down Imo

(86,659 posts)while he was at MSNBC he got off on a few good topics, bit hard and rode them to some effect. Didn't last long... same with my respect for the guy.

(30,674 posts)not to mention an ill-informed moron who has no moral compass.
I feel about Ed the same way I felt when Alex Jones took up the 9/11 Truth topic.
No. Please, no. Please, please, no. He'll ruin it. And he did.
