"president trump had an emotional moment..."

heard just now on m$nbc.

Does anyone think he cares a whit about anyone but himself, including the children poisoned?

Color me skeptical. I believe this is just a prelude to the yuge distraction he might be planning which would kill more people.

Either that, or he's just bloviating as he does. But sympathy? Nah.

with Russia?

Perhaps even in collusion with Putin...

A short war with mostly Syrian civilian casualties ( but a few Russians and Americans too).

Then a "deal maker" settlement (Assad gone, Russia picks the next dictator, we eliminate all stockpiles of chemical weapons, blah blah).

And Trump and his buddy Vlad are all like "see, Trump is not Russia tool!".

He probably shows fake concern when a business associate has a death in the family too.
It's just business.

...and said he'd had reason to change his mind.

I would have liked for him to have elaborated, describing what his feelings are and how he might act on them. That might conceivably have led to something worthy.

Like W after the Columbia disaster, maybe even a half-assed politician has a good moment in him.
