Trump wants him to feel right at home, so they'll be ordering take-out from this menu. It will be delivered to the table in those paper take-out boxes that will be so familiar to Xi. The restaurant that will deliver, China Sky Take-Out is well-known in West Palm Beach for fast delivery and great low prices.
Here's an example of one of their favorites: General Tso's Chicken, a known favorite of Xi's.

(146,317 posts)and that is not a real Chinese dish, right? In fact, nothing on that menu is actually something that would be familiar to someone in China. It's "American-style" Chinese food.

(146,317 posts)I can't say I've ever done that with one of those containers, though. I have, however, eaten from such containers using chop sticks. Despite the lack of authenticity of American Chinese Food, I still like it and still eat it. On the other hand, when I have the chance, I visit genuine Hunan and Szechuan restaurants often. When I can find them, that is.
Minneapolis has few such authentic places. There are many that have those words in their names, but I've not found any that satisfy. Still, I keep trying, and I'll gladly eat pretty much anything that comes out of a wok.
A story: I'm left-handed. I was in one of the actually authentic Hunan restaurants in San Francisco one time. The waiter kept looking at me in an odd way. He spoke very little English, but I asked him why he kept looking at me. He said, "I not see people eat with that hand." I realized what he meant, and transferred the chop sticks to my right hand and continued eating. He nodded and smiled. I learned my lesson, and now always use chop sticks with my right hand. Luckily, I'm pretty much ambidextrous.

(146,317 posts)I kept bumping elbows with other people at the table. Left is like me have that problem. So when I was a teen, I taught myself to eat right-handed. Then, I wondered if I could teach myself to write with my right hand, too.
I think that playing musical instruments helped, too. Then, I started working as an auto mechanic, which almost demands being ambidextrous. It is a learned thing, I think.

(41,833 posts)General Tso's chicken was created by a Taiwanese chef who brought the dish to NYC. It was styled after a dish he had many times in the Szechuan district of mainland China.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)Who can say, though, really? Besides, I'm sure Xi won't be impressed with something created by a Taiwanese chef, either.

(24,324 posts)What is truly sad is that many of the 'dishes' at these thousands of fake Chinese restaurants that blanket the US were based on real Chinese dishes..I'm sure you know all this.. The owners of these joints are almost all from Fujian province, and a majority of those from Fuzhou.
It is a shame, because I am still convinced that if these places made REAL Chinese cuisine, people would love it.
James Beard was once quoted as saying, " The three greatest cuisines in the world are Chinese, Chinese and Chinese.

(146,317 posts)Right now, I just finished one of those and am waiting for the next one. I'm on retainer with the web design company I work with the most, and that, along with my Social Security work out just fine.
So, yes, I do have some free time. If I have more work, I make more money, and have less time. I'm sort of semi-retired. I'd work full time if the work were there, but I'd really rather not. And I'm not out looking for additional web content contracts, really. When I'm busy, I'm very busy, but right now, I'm between contracts. I still get the retainer fee, though, every month. I'll be busy again soon, I'm sure. I'm never idle for long.
