https://www.dallasnews.com/news/dallas/2017/04/08/emergency-sirens-blare-across-dallas-county-despite-clear-weatherDallas officials blame computer hacking for setting off emergency sirens throughout the city early Saturday.
Rocky Vaz, director of Dallas' Office of Emergency Management, said all 156 of the city's sirens were activated more than a dozen times.
Officials don't know who was responsible for the hacking, but Vaz said "with a good deal of confidence that this was someone outside our system" and someone in the Dallas area.

(17,086 posts)1. I can understand hacking for a purpose, even if I don't condone it.

(9,974 posts)2. The 911 system was bogged down with calls
Which is understandable since not everyone has access to social media to see WTF was happening and it was at 1130pm when ALL 150+ sirens were alarming.
This explains why last night's reports said that officials were having to go around the city and manually shut off each alarm.
City won't "know the health of the system" until they get back into check the siren system.
