Rachel Maddow gets thrown under the bus by you-know-who

How many liberals and Dems has the Intercept (and The Young Turks after a huge infusion of GOP cash) smeared for doing the right thing in their short history? How long can they keep up this "Just because we hate the anti-Trump people doesn't mean we actually support Trump!" bullshit with a straight face?

This whiplash inducing "love him/hate him" about pundits has been old for a long time.

I honestly don't give a damn about anybody's opinion and I don't watch cable or broadcast "news." If somebody manages to come up with a few facts, I appreciate it when they pan out. However, the constant flood of opinion parading as journalism is not something I pay particular attention to.

News junkie? Yeah, guilty. Opinion junkie? Go away.

Glenn should see if he can get the job as assignment editor for the show; then it would cover only the subjects he deems fit for discussion, and not this dreary old myriad connections between the Trump administration and the Russian government/Russian mobsters/Russian bankers/other assorted Russian riff-raff.

I've never cared for either Greenwald or the Young Turks. Seems like the enjoy hearing themselves talk. Rambling talk.

I WANT Rachel, Lawrence and others to keep the Trump-Russia out in the open. I wish they'd discuss Trump's taxes, too.

administration and devote plenty of time doing so, as well as to the GOP. I've heard them talk about Russia and Putin too. They have no love for either. I think that the Russia story is big, mostly because we should never let a foreign power interfere with our elections, and because if we can nail Trump and his cabinet-members, campaign people, etc. to the wall for treason we should, but as to why we lost the election, I think that is absolutely absurd.

There is nothing, short of actually hacking our machines that Russia could have done that our own media didn't let that kind of crap fake news get away with, or even itself run with. Our media, as usual, is why we lost, from its tepid to non-existent reporting on gerrymandering and voter suppression, not to mention hackable voting machines, to its horrible journalism.

I can't speak to the intercept, I don't know it, but at least the Young Turks understands that underlying reality...corporate media is fucking us.

It's good to adopt a skeptical stance towards all media. Hating corporate media shouldn't make us fly to the arms of alternative media. Best to treat all new information as a scientist would new data.

And corporate media doesn't just fuck with us occasionally. That is so so so diminishing of the reality. It is literally financially invested in certain narratives. How could it not be? Its corporate owners are some of the biggest national and trans-national corporations. To pretend that doesn't ultimately affect who they end up hiring and how those people behave on their networks, is...well how would you describe that?

Just a quick example, can you imagine MSNBC coming out with a story about GE? anything...like say how they were literally getting money back from the government and paying no taxes? And this is just a simple surface level example. How can media be independent if it is beholden to its owners?

NYT and WaPo aren't so bad. ( I even read WSJ)

(Btw I just realised the title of my previous post might be seen as mocking ( I wasn't mocking) didn't realise I repeated the "seriously" )

Cable News Media is a different beast - they're definitely worth all the criticism you laid out.

They also make their money the way the other institutions do. They are still corporate-centric. They still have advertisers. Not as bad? I agree. Dangerous because of that perceived journalistic integrity? I'd say so.

incredible deception from the bush administration and the media ( and congress) treated Cheney&Co as though they were good faith actors.

NYT have been terrible in some respects, even last year, so they won't always get it right.

but Cable News media was downright awful and has been for decades.
