I have a question about the private prison industry

If they profit off housing inmates what is to prevent them from goading inmates into crimes while incarcerated so they can keep them longer? Isn't it possible they could frame inmates just to keep them longer? Forgive my ignorance
if this is a stupid question, but I was just wondering.

& thank you in advance to any one who answers my questions

Inmates would ultimately band together and intervene against guards who sabotage them...In my guess on the subject.

The INCENTIVE is to lock up people. That's it. Everything else is absolutely secondary.

they're not that organized, that effective or that competent.

Also, they don't need to keep them in longer, it's better for their bottom line if they have a high turnover, people get out and come back in. That way they don't have the constant medical costs, entrenched divisions that form in a prison population etc.
