(34,136 posts)This is why I live in NORTH Florida!
It will warm up to 84 later, but tonight it will cool down to 59. With our well insulated house, that means that we seldom use the air conditioning this time of year since it will not heat up inside until late afternoon. By then, it will cooler outside than in so we just turn on some fans to bring the cooler air in.
The only problem we're having are the gnats and mosquitoes. Our window and porch screens need repairs and the insects come in in the evening and hang around the lights.

(11 posts)Living on the coast is rather boring watching the weather. Forecaster says, "low tonight 68 high tomorrow 70".

I remember the weather reports when I lived in Florida. They all were smug, taunting the frozen north. JAPDIP! (Just Another Perfect Day in Paradise). Then summer happened.

(41,990 posts)Yesterday we had actual sun! It didn't hit 60 but you'd think it was full summer the way people shucked their clothes and wallowed in those rays. I had the sun roof open. It was glorious.

then I moved down South, and damn if I don't take sunny days for granted, and look forward to the rainy ones.

72 degrees here in Poconos at an elevation of 2,000 feet. Beautiful. To quote my husband to his Florida friends laughing at him for moving back North, "When it's in the 70's here and you have Heat Indexes at 100 degrees for months on end, who will be laughing at who?
Edit: Cannot count just temps. HORRIBLE Florida HUMIDITY too.

(4,834 posts)Warmest Easter I every remember. I'm 69, but I'm sure this is just the usual...couldn't possibly be anything like too much CO2 in the atmosphere. Besides, my memory may not be all that good. Anyone else remember a 90 degree Easter north of the Mason Dixon line?

Right now it's cool and raining about 40 miles south of San Francisco, and my tomato seedlings aren't happy. The local creek still has water, and I've never seen the thistles and bitter lettuce that tall - they dwarf me. I'm enjoying it while it lasts - the rains will stop soon, and the hills will go back to their usual brown.

Within a 1 to 2 week period in June everything will dry to a crisp and drop seeds and we'll be back to conserving water. Right now I'm planning my harvest of poppy seed pods so I can spread them around the parts of the front yard that missed out on getting self-seeded last year.
