If she declines, it looks very bad. If she accepts, Ossoff can use it as a national platform to expose Trump and the GOP as the phonies they are.

(30,764 posts)I have one concern about this candidate. Although he has been quite open about living outside the district and his plan to move there in a few weeks, I worry that this can be used against him to get people to vote for his opponent.
I am pulling for this guy. I like him for reasons other than his obvious challenge to the GOP supremacy. He seems like a good guy and a good prospect as a future Congressman.

(6,324 posts)That kind of thing is never a positive and it makes you waste time and effort defending it or explaining it away.
I'm kind of disappointed in the party in GA that they couldn't find a good candidate who lived in the district.

(6,324 posts)I personally don't think it affects a persons ability to represent a district if they live there or not, but any person looking at it from a realistic standpoint has to admit it does give the opposing side a point they can attack and hammer on.
And when you are playing defense against that kind of thing that's opportunity missed to be on the offense on other issues.
Pretending it won't be an issue is denying reality. Campaigns that do that generally don't do well. You have to be realistic about your weaknesses as much as your strengths.

(58,724 posts)He is not interested in a "national platform to expose Trump".
He is interested in helping the people of Georgia.

(24,720 posts)the corporate media has kinda let this be given a pass with this person well she needs to be reminded every day of this interaction she had with "both" of these organizations.
Last night the corporate media was beside themselves, the in fact that democrat actually beat a right wing fascist, who thinks that she is entitled to some congressional seat just because she is a republican.
And now the sexual predator robo call was flop now what are they going to do, bring in Pence, and Cruz, or some other fascists, how about Eddie Munster Ayn Rand Ryan, who still wants this country to have full fledged death panels along with the previous two mentioned jerks------------------not happening this time

(1,397 posts)Ossoff is a former Congressional staffer. As such he should be very familiar with the issues that come before a House member -- those issues are both LOCAL and NATIONAL.
I hope he and has campaign people are smart enough to base their campaign now on a mixture of local and national issues. While Trump is a tempting -- and a yuuuuuuge -- target, Ossoff does need to keep the focus on his district with the occasional shot at Trump.
Remember: Republicans love to tie local candidates to Clinton, Pelosi, Harry Reid, Schumer, and Obama -- and it works.

45 is right about one thing: he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and Trump Chumps would still vote for him.
You are treating them like they are our rivals. They're treating us like we're their enemy.
They keep winning by cheating, and we keep losing by pretending it's not happening.
