Sources say there is kompromat on @jasoninthehouse; that this is why he turned and that @fbi know it. #traitorinthehouse

I try to keep up, but I'm not doing a very good job because I still don't understand what she meant about his "turning". I have an idea, or two, but am not sure.
If you know, or suspect, would you please explain, or direct me with a link.
On another thought, I imagine Jason's been depressed over not being able to pursue his "several years" worth of evidence against a President Hillary Clinton.
You know, all that hard work of preparation down the drain. Sorta ruined his life's course in his dogged pursuit of "justice". Poor guy. Of course, just like Issa, partisan politics, and power had nothing to do with any of this.

(505 posts)- Since she uses the term "kompromat", this might refer to Russia blackmailing him to act in the interests of Russia (Russia turned him)
- Or maybe she's using "kompromat" in a broader sense and the FBI has something on him, so now he's helping with the investigation against Trump (the FBI turned him)?
Which one is it?
dmr
(28,349 posts)I sure would like to know. May be even both: the Russians, then the FBI caught wind of it.
I bet there will be plenty of Republicans who will rue the day they put their marbles in Trump's basket. Nunes, Jason, McConnell, Ryan, etc.

(58,785 posts)"what's that about?" dots that millions are looking at to others, some we can see, some we can't, and reports the picture as knowledge, or sometimes like now just as insinuations. She's working as a journalist for a minor Murdoch publication, so she's presumably closer to events than most, but her main technique to me seems to be just the classic timing hokum: posting vague insinuations of knowledge out ahead of developing events.
If Mensch has real answers, why are her revelations never followed 2-4 days later by the usual pieces by other investigative journalists? Why aren't they corroborating and build on her revelations through their own information sources? That's the usual timing. And note that no one quotes her.
As for Chaffetz, who hasn't been waiting to find out what we don't know yet about his hidden activities? He's an extremely ambitious and ruthless sleaze who keeps screwing up, his biggest almost certainly by eagerly entangling himself with the Russiagate crowd. And now he's suddenly abandoning his national aspirations. At this point we're all Menschs, minus the claims.
Btw, the right never seems to run out of these crooked, defective "stars" who soar and then self destruct. How is it their voters never get tired of it?

(58,785 posts)and very well connected people investigating the same things quote her? Again, all she would have to do would be to drop a new name, fact, document and they'd be on it like a swarm of ants tearing apart a scrap of melon, bringing a wealth of contacts that dwarf hers to developing the story.
But nothing.

(58,785 posts)I'll accept that she's working hard at passing along the info of the day. But notice, they do not claim she provides NEW information, which is what people on this thread have been assuming and what she pretends to.
Like I said...what did I say? That thing about using timing to seem to have special information?
This VF list is also ignoring her nutty side, temporarily. She's not called a conspiracy pusher by those who reject her as a colleague for nothing.
Soak in her offerings at your own peril, never forgetting what happened to the right.

(49,044 posts)I think she was first with Carter Page and first with the Alfa bank connections, but I'm not sure.
Yes, she does have a nutty side but it doesn't seem to creep into her reports when she uses terms like "confirmed" even though she won't / can't name multiple sources.

(1,242 posts)novels she has used mench , the others are under Louise Bagshawe. Since Vanity Fair has been mentioned ......
" Mensch had a scoopor did she? To my mind, we still do not really know. She reported that she had two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community, and that these sources gave her the story because of her fearless condemnation of Edward Snowden, the N.S.A. contractor, who revealed the massive and unregulated surveillance programs by British and American governments, which of course was mostly broken by The Guardian.
But links with counter-intelligence community is not the same as the counter-intelligence community itself. Are we talking intermediaries here? What do links mean in this context, anyway? You could conceivably describe me as a link to the counter-intelligence community since I have known quite a few intelligence officers over the years. But this does not make me an authority, or provide any guarantee that I know what Im talking about, or telling the truth. A link, as I understand it, is a go-between, a channeland not necessarily someone who has firsthand experience to recount. "
