esp for walking. And they last a long time. But if you're going to be on a walking program or something like that, you might want to go with athletic shoes, which are made for that. SOS shoes are made for people who have to stand all day, or walk a lot occasionally (like on vacation), go to the mall all day, etc.

However, they are pretty ugly. I bought a pair several years ago. Waste of money because I can't bear to wear them, they are so ugly.

There are some models that are more attractive than others, though.

But yes, they are high quality shoes and are very healthy for the feet.

I buy ASICS athletic shoes for walking my dogs on concrete, going to the mall, etc. They are wonderful. I buy specifically ASICS Nimbus, which have the most cushioning. But they cost about $140, too, except you can get them on sale.

Google walking shoes, if that's what you want, and look for ratings. Then look to buy on Zappos. You can probably find an excellent shoe on sale. But all the GREAT ones, needed by people with foot issues or just getting older or want to seriously protect the health of your feet, will be over $100.

My wife bought a pair of SAS last Friday. She called me today saying that the shoes are very uncomfortable, and her feet are very hot. When I called the 877 # to get advise on the warranty of the product, I was told that each store is a Franchise, so each store has their own policies. We will make an attempt to at least exchange for new pair. If I knew this, I would have discourage my wife from buying the shoes.

They are the best quality, most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I paid $80 for white sandals 15 years ago and another pair 10 years ago. I still have both; I still wear them and they're in very good shape.

the cushioning in the expensive shoes is worth it. I have plantar fasciitis issues so I've been wearing Skechers the last few years. I have Born and some Crocs (the ones with extra cushioning). I also like Clarks/Indygo and Brooks running shoes.

I was ready to quit a job in car sales after two days because I was almost completely hobbled with lower leg/foot pain. My wife, now ex, talked to her mother and she swore by SAS shoes and insisted that I try a pair before beginning a new job search. First time in my life I paid more than $90 for a pair of shoes and the difference was amazing.

If I ever end up needing to be on my feet for long periods in a position that doesn't allow athletic shoes SAS will be my first stop.

They are the only ones with 5 1/2 WW. My kids tease me about my 'old lady shoes' but they keep my feet happy. And they're Made in USA! Look for the $15 off coupons.

Yes, the ones on my feet are US made and about 10 years old. They last a long time.

I work in retail and have suffered so much from plantar fasciitis that I required surgery. I am not allowed to wear athletic shoes to my job, so I have a brown pair of SAS and a black pair of Dansksos. These truly are the only shoes that don't make me hobble by the end of my shifts. Sketchers are cheaper, but the support breaks down more quickly and require more frequent replacement.

On the down side, they are ugly as sin. When I brought them home, my husband told me they looked like a pair of shoes his grandma owned in the 1950's. I am in good company though, as nearly everyone over 40 at my job has made the switch.
