It's all them.

Personally, I think it would be hilarious if they managed to shut down the government while controlling both houses and the presidency.

At some point, they start looking incompetent even to their own voters.

(And trying to blame the hapless Democrats doesn't really help.)

It's not even a tactic anymore - shutdown is a goal in and of itself. Damage government, tell people govt is bad, shrink govt, cut taxes on the rich while services to the 99% shrink. It's part of the Koch/Norquist/GOP plan.

You selfish myopic apostate cheapskates made this bed. Built it from the ground up and put those nice white sheets on it (with the hoods tucked in under the mattress where they're less noticeable). Now go lie down in it.

Yeah, I do kinda like that!

Just so you know, I double-checked the definition of "apostate" just to make sure that was the right word to use to convey what I thought it did. 'Cause I always liked the sound of it. And it fits:

əˈpäˌstāt,əˈpästət/
noun
1.
a person who renounces a religious or political belief or principle.
synonyms: dissenter, defector, deserter, traitor, backslider, turncoat;
nonconformist;
schismatic;
archaicheretic;
rarerecusant, recreant, tergiversator
"after 50 years as an apostate, he returned to the faith"

adjective
1.
abandoning a religious or political belief or principle.

"Apostate" fits - particularly to those hypocrites who'll deny support to those in need, question that those in need really are in need to begin with, excuse themselves by virtue of some cockamamie theory of government like the proven failure of trickle-down economics or the selfishness of Ayn Rand, talk themselves up as paragons of virtue and high-minded ethics and philosophy, or claim THEY'RE true followers of Christ. They're apostates. Apostates of the first order. They might as well design some fancy-looking badges or pins to wear on their lapels, declaring their allegiance. Like a "knighthood" of sorts. Instead of something like The Order of the Garter, have it be The Order of the Apostate?

That's a fight I'm willing to undertake. He's offered the Dems some funding for Obamacare in exchange for the wall funding. So far Nancy says No Way and I think she'll hold firm. Nobody wants that DAMN WALL but Trump, and he lied about Mexico paying for it so he shouldn't be looking for us to pay for it now.

if they do shut down the government, how will it be restarted? Since they are intent on destroying the nation and its bonds of unity in governing, will they even try to restart/reopen after the fact or will they leave it in shambles and claim "Mission Accomplished?
