(99,710 posts)We have done a much better job of assimilating people. Being American is rooted in values, not in blood and soil. It's much easier to become "American" than to become "French", "British", German, et cetera.

Conclusion- A 26 point lead is a lot more meaningful than a 3 point lead.
BTW, if we had a popular vote like France Hillary would have won.
