If 45 starts his bu$hit warrior actions on N. korea, Seoul will be toast and all the US troops on the DMZ will be slaughtered. Hundreds of thousands of South Koreans are within range of Communist N. Koreans artillery and a million NK troops on the DMZ.

(50,566 posts)I'm thinking Nuremburg Tribunal-level stuff here.
We are currently speaking of the possible deaths of 10,000 men and women whose only crime was pissing off their branch managers badly enough to get them assigned to the 2d Infantry Division. If that's not worthy of reopening the Fort Riley Correctional Custody Facility* to house these assholes, then I don't know what is.
* The Fort Riley CCF will go down in infamy. In the Old Days there were two jails on an Army base: the stockade and the Correctional Custody Facility. CCF is the jail a company commander can sentence you to. The one at Fort Riley was being run by the worst assholes on base, none of whom had correctional officer training, and were killing from five to ten percent of the troops who got sent there. Not even Arpaio was this bad.

(58,721 posts)that would be the House. I don't doubt that this could be a bad omen, but if Trump wants a new war powers act, he's asking the wrong group.
WePurrsevere
(24,259 posts)and the word congress is used to refer to the legislative branch in general, aka both the House and Senate.
Article 1 Section 1 of the Constitution defines "congress":
All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives
To get his war on Trump legally needs to kiss up to both and since it's a fairly close split the Senate will probably be the harder one to persuade.

(2,297 posts)I think that China could take NK without a shot being fired. The US would probably still man the DMZ.
http://asia.nikkei.com/Politics-Economy/International-Relations/Beijing-s-quandary-over-North-Korea-fuels-digital-chatter-in-China
The Chinese are in a quandary. A rumor is currently swirling that China is suspending oil exports to North Korea. The latter country largely depends on its large neighbor for its crude oil consumption, and a cut in this lifeline would greatly impact the North Korean economy.
The rumor was sparked by a report from the North Korean correspondent of the Global Times. In the article the reporter said, "I was not able to fill up my tank at a gas station in an area where embassies are located in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang." His report said that he was told that the petrol station was "out of gas." The story also mentioned possible gas price rises in the country.
