I attended a day-long continuing education seminar yesterday, during the course of which Rosalynn Carter's strong advocacy for de-stigmatizing and providing treatment for mental illness was mentioned. Younger DUers may not know of the work she did before, during, and after her years in the White House. She was a wonderful, dedicated First Lady. The youngest of her four children, Amy, was 9 years old when her husband was elected, but Rosalynn moved right in and rolled up her sleeves without missing a beat.
