Foreign Money Is Buying U.S. Politicians. Happy 4th.

Tomorrow is July the 4th – the day on which America declared its independence from England. A little tiff back in the 1700’s, perhaps you may have heard about it. A lot of blood was shed to become a sovereign nation, and lot of money got lost because patriotic motives prevented the Brits from buying their way past our guns.

The blogger seems unaware that some Americans work abroad, such as in the UK muriel_volestrangler Jul 2012 #2
He is quite aware, and has in fact worked in pommie-land himself on a fair few occasions. riqster Jul 2012 #3
So why did he make such an uninformed blog post? muriel_volestrangler Jul 2012 #4

I heard a rumor that Bank Melli, Saderat Bank and Tejarat bank in Iran were all contributors to the Romney Super-PAC.

OK, I made it up.

But just the fact that it could be true should be enough to demand reform and transparency.

But it does appear that foreign nationals may make such contributions. And with corporate involvement.

Diamond has American citizenship (he has been long enough in the UK to have British citizenship too). It is clearly legal for him to donate to, and vote in, American elections.

Diamond was not the only contributor, and various foreign corporations are involved.

Go ahead, point out anyone in it that doesn't have American citizenship, according either to the article or any other source.

There's nothing in the artilce about foreign corporations giving money. They may employ the American citizens. But that is allowed. Unsurprisingly.

I think the blogger is missing a trick here; the important thing is to point out Romney is associated with dubious bankers who are having to resign. The red herring of where they live and work just spoils the message by making the blogger look a bit incompetent.
