It is said that Reagan was only a figurehead. Same for Trump.

Trump wanted to remind everybody in the room that he was, in fact, still president, before ditching the meeting and letting the "grown ups" deal with the national security crisis.
Trump Spent Just Five Minutes In Major Meeting About Stopping A Nuclear War With North Korea

For anyone in the country who still needs to be convinced that Donald Trump isn’t interested in carrying out the responsibilities of his office, today should do the trick.

In a rare, closed-door meeting with the entire U.S. Senate regarding the increasing threat posed by North Korea, the tough-talking commander-in-chief left after just five minutes.

According to one report from ABC News, Trump gave a few opening remarks before heading back to his office to presumably watch cable news and fire off some tweets.

More from ABC News:

..............................

The meeting lasted about one hour and discussed various financial and military options available for pressuring North Korea to end its nuclear program.

I think it's a Trump not giving a shit about details, even on the most perilous matters.

I'm sure he's still demanding he call all the shots. He just doesn't really care which way he shoots.

There's no singular power behind the throne. It varies from day to day.

Trump's an oddity in that he's in fact the one truly in charge, but extremely malleable to various whims due to his narcissistic personality.

NK seems to be doing their usual saber-rattling that they do pretty much like clockwork. Trump does NOT have to play into it and doesn't have to engage with them. And we should not HAVE to STOP anything because nothing (new) is actually happening.

Don't forget he approved the Yemen raid in the middle of dinner.

He supposedly ordered the Syrian missile strikes during dessert with the Chinese President.

He's dangerous and stupid and lazy, all rolled into one. Not a comforting picture.

that his lack of participation means he is willing to abide by their decision. Yes, he can get all worked up and order a strike, but maybe he knows that this is nuclear war we are talking about and he is out of his depth. At least he wasn't in the meeting getting them stirred up and swaying them from making a sane decision.

He lets the people who know do all the hard, dirty work of meeting, hashing out the options and coming to a decision of what needs to happen. Maybe this is a good thing, but the $64,000 question is Will he listen to them? Or does he "know more than the generals"? 😳

Generals and Majors ah ah
They're never too far
From battlefields so glorious
Out in a world of their own
They'll never come down
Till once again victorious, whoa

Generals and Majors always
Seem so unhappy 'less they got a war

Generals and Majors ah ah
Like never before are tired of being action less

Calling Generals and Majors
Generals and Majors everywhere
Calling Generals and Majors
Your World War III is drawing near

Generals and Majors ah ah
They're never too far
Away from men who made the grade
Out in a world of their own
They'll never come down
Until the battle's lost or made, whoa

Generals and Majors always
Seem so unhappy 'less they got a war

Generals and Majors ah ah
Like never before, are tired of being in the shade

Calling Generals and Majors
Generals and Majors everywhere
Calling Generals and Majors, hey
Your World War III is drawing near, World War III

Generals and Majors ah ah
They're never too far
From battlefields so glorious
Out in a world of their own
They'll never come down
Till once again victorious, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
