Instead of "Cause at least I know I'm free" to "Where if you're rich and white you're free".

I cringe when I hear it. How people think it is patriotic defies logic to me.

A jingoistic piece of shit full of empty platitudes and completely lacking substance.

9-11, then his illegal occupation, countless deaths, and we continue to this day.

I don't like it either.

When I lived in mormonland, I heard it probably fifty times every time there was a parade in the city... it will blare from at least every third float in the parade, not in sync, and appears to be some kind of holy anthem or some crap.

If I ever heard it again I will either leave the area or plug my ears like a little kid and yell until it stops.

The real lyrics are
I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free.

"Where" should be preceded by a place, and "American" is not a place.
The way you wrote it ("'cause at least I know I'm free&quot actually makes sense.

I got the lyrics wrong. "Where" does make more sense in the sense of not making sense. 😜 How can anyone be proud of a circumstance of birth?

A lot like all those Republicans with the "Support Our Troops" bumper stickers.
