I lived in NYC from 2000 to 2012 and everyone I know thought he was a buffoon then, but what was the opinion of him in the early days?

I was a teenager back then (yes, I'm showing my age ), with a reputation for being a slumlord who discriminated illegally.

Now he's just a bigger one. I thought maybe there was a point in time where he might have once been respectable.

it gives them a sense of legitimacy no matter how many people throughout the country oppose them. As long as they are in a crowd that cheers for them, they feel like it's OK to be an asshole.
