Here's the politico piece just sent to my E-mail:
GOP faces make-or-break moment on Obamacare repeal
By Rachael Bade, John Bresnahan and Kyle Cheney
04/30/2017 06:01 PM EDT
House Republican leaders and White House officials are increasingly confident about passing their long-stalled Obamacare replacement bill: More lawmakers than ever are committed to voting "yes," they say, and GOP insiders insist they're within striking distance of a majority.
End of quote and now turning to only my thoughts below:
So, imo, what the dems need to do is play hardball. Fillibuster the CR in the senate and shut the government down over this monstrosity passing the house.
The ACA must be saved and a government shutdown is the path now. It's the only hope of many of our brethren to literally not die!

(65,357 posts)Senate to save them from their own self-inflicted damage. They want to pass some legislation--ANY legislation--so they can claim to have kept their promise on Obamacare. And Cheato is seriously badgering them to get something passed so he can add it to his list of "accomplishments."
But most House members absolutely do NOT want that bill to land on Cheato's desk to be signed, so they are counting on its being killed in the Senate.
If it does end up getting to Trump to be signed, they will be as freaked out as Trump was when he actually got stuck with being president.

Don't be condescending if you are going to correct someone.
For your information, the emdash is properly written as two hypens--not three--to indicate a sharp break in thought.

(51,311 posts)you could.
Oh, and FYI: The definition of "best limited to" is NOT "must be limited to."

WHY DIDN'T YOU ACCUSE THAT OP OF "CONDESCENDING" (or see it in yourself)?

What you chose is to denigrate someone.
See it myself? Okay, I am condescending of you, and quite intentionally.

(13,779 posts)If you had a general rant about bad grammar or misspellings, I'd either agree with you or not respond at all.
When you chose to belittle a specific individual over a misspelling, it rubbed me the wrong way.

(11,119 posts)With our election vote totals for much longer than we know... We can't be sure we'll win back the House and Senate as long as these hackers can electronically meddle with vote tabulation...
Also, I think history will show that the hackers meddled with the Brexit vote totals, too.

(34,072 posts)You're playing political games with people's lives.
If we do everything we can, and still don't succeed in maintaining the ACA there will be blood on their hands, not ours.
But it is NOT EVER acceptable to hope they fail and the ACA repealed so that we can win an election.

(5,240 posts)subsidies and getting rid of the price cap for pre-existing conditions, they will kill it by a thousand cuts. They have already started. They can do so much without repealing it.
This is not for political gain, this is to finally get medical care that will work for everyone. The changes needed won't happen under GOP rule. We need the house and senate, then the presidency.
Things have gotten too nasty here. As if anyone here would want someone to die.
Ms. Toad
(34,072 posts)is political gain, pure and simple.
It took multiple decades to get the ACA. If it is successfully repealed, it will be decades before anything equivalent is passed again. My daughter will not live decades without access to health care.
It isn't that you wnat her to die - but you ARE willing to sacrifice her for politics when you hope they repeal the ACA - and urge doig nothing - so we can win in 2018.

(7,629 posts)that bill can simply be defeated in the senate if it passes the house. There are enough gop senators opposing it. Dems can also fillibuster it if needed. The nuclear option only removed fillibuster for nominations, not the regular senate voting on bills.

(42,703 posts)We don't need to shut down the government (assuming we could) over a vote in the House when we can block the Obamacare bill in the Senate.

(1,168 posts)the pukes tried to repeal the ACA and instead gave the Trumpster a huge political defeat. Many threads here on DU confirmed the obvious, that the puke party is in total disarray.
Now all of a sudden they have got it together?
How?

(30,674 posts)I've seen them do this before. Lie real big abut how they have the votes, in order to get the holdouts to join the parade. Only to later pretend that never happened and they are still short.
Probably lying.
