(1,714 posts)Post ACA, we lost over 1000 seats at all levels of the government, but have very good chances of recovering over the next four years. The R's may very well lose seats over the course of the next couple of elections, but will probably recover eventually.
This healthcare thing is going to go back and forth, and neither side will make everyone happy, until we get single payer.
The AHCA is a travesty, but the ACA wasn't the be-all and end-all of the healthcare debate, either. Huge deductibles made it virtually unusable for most people, and choices of docs, hospitals, and insurance companies was severely limited; so . . .

(5,754 posts)Of course there was the terrible war, but the bottom line was that the government was trying to kill you or your boyfriend. I married someone who was underweight, had poor vision, Canadian, and drew a high lottery number. Knowing we could always go to Canada, and that both of my daughters are dual citizens, has helped me survive every Republican administration. They really do want to kill you. Welcome to that knowledge, younger folks.
