not the 50-yard line.

Might be a little premature exultation going on here, with resulting lack of satisfaction.

a rookie receiver made a good catch in the middle of the field, jumped up and spiked the ball.

Unfortunately, in the pro game, the ball isn't dead unless he gets touched by a defender while down. His spike was basically an intentional fumble and the other team recovered.

This is kind of what is happening to the Repubs. They're giving Dems something to run on in '18.

They have to get the Senate to actually accept it to begin their process to make it to the 50 yard line.

Dems should use video from the gathering in their 2018 commercials . . . right before they show video of people who don't have health coverage anymore.

The purpose of passing H.R.1628 was not to enact it. Its was a matter of having your cake and eating it too.

The house gop needed to pass it in order to appease its base (and the orange man tweeting in the john). The bill is going nowhere unless the senate takes it up. In general, senators are more bullet-proof than congressmen.

Now the gop can point to the house vote and say "See! we did what you wanted." Without having the tsunami of actually repealing Obama care.

Small men celebrate small deeds.

For trump this also has the advantage of blowing off the Australian PM, his best buddy from their telephone call. He was scheduled to meet with him at a hotel in New York. Now trump doesn't have to motorcade past all those protestors. He can helicopter in near his speech, then helicopter out to his NJ golf course, avoiding it all.
