... a new Quinnipiac Poll ... found 36 percent of voters approved of the job Trump was doing as president, down from 40 percent in mid-April.

Trump lost ground among groups including white men, white voters without college degrees and independent voters, the Hamden-based poll reported.

"There is no way to spin or sugarcoat these sagging numbers," Tim Malloy, assistant director of the poll, said in a written statement. "The erosion of white men, white voters without college degrees and independent voters, the declaration by voters that President Donald Trump's first 100 days were mainly a failure and deepening concerns about Trump's honesty, intelligence and level headedness are red flags that the administration can't brush away."
