(15 posts)I was recently hidden by jury verdict with the stupidest comments that one could ever imagine. Is that what a newbie has to look forward too?

(15 posts)I guess that I probably won't be along too much then. Because facts are facts, and you don't seem to want to have anything to do with the truth.

However, you will find that your statement is accurate with respect to some people who want other posters, expecially newbies, to be subordinate cheerleaders to whatever positions that they've taken.
Here's a suggestion, but you do what you want to do: IMO, if you have tender feelings and don't want to be offended by the occasional comments of jurors who might disagree with your postings, simply join the cheerleader crowd. On the other hand, if you want to tell the truth, then tell the truth as you know it.
A number of us have had experiences similiar to the one that you described. As an example, when an OP described the suicides chosen by jobless Italians and I responded by saying "Stupid choices. n/t," someone decided that the response did not coincide with their unannounced standard and they selected the alert button. As another example, when I expressed my admiration for the principles that Obama espoused in 2008 and expressed my continued desire to see those principles applied, someone took exception to that. In both instances, the randomly selected juries agreed 4-2 with the alerters. Different juries may have otherwise decided the issues 3-3, or 2-4, or whatever. As for me, do I have tender feelings? No.
Do what you want.

(3,539 posts)Yes it gets a touch rough here at DU from time to time, but I've seen similar things on Teck forums.
Sometimes in the intensity of a debate on politics, or religion or most of what's talked about, their will occasionally be an emotional response.
Their may even be some heated posts.
However when people get into an emotional pissing contest over the flipen Windows Register.......
Just goes to show we are human.

(8,571 posts)Sorry about your post being hidden. It's not easy to know what to expect around here.
I'm not sure why yours was hidden, but maybe this link will help. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=termsofservice
Sometimes the answers are not always there either, you tend to take your chances with a Jury. I hope you will stick around, we have a multitude of forums that might interest you.

(25,699 posts)Just as there seems to be a strong bias towards letting those with high post counts get away with truly ludicrous stuff.
it's an internet message board, don't take it too seriously.
