Right Wing Pseudo-Patriots Are too Dumb...

...To Realize Healthcare Reform is Freedom

~snippet~

One begins to wonder, what is wrong with such a large segment of the population that they are willing to go “revolutionary war” on the government because it provides them with quality affordable healthcare and expects those able to purchase coverage to do so instead of living off the largesse of 84% of Americans who do pay income taxes and purchase health insurance?

Yes, they really are that dumb yet we still need to talk with them and EDUCATE EDUCATE EDUCATE!!

I get blank yet interested stares when I detail out the ACA to people who only listen to RW media.

The Republican policies are geared to the rich for the rich. So if the party is going to make you richer why not vote for them.

But, most of the tea party wing nuts I see aren't rich. They forget how much they get from government. They forget what their taxes do pay for. They are voting and campaigning for a party with policies which will directly hurt you does not make sense to me.

When I see people who feel they are taxed too much without understanding what those taxes pay for really makes me worry about the future of this country.

Our Repub representative voted for every free-trade gimmick, every outsourcing law, and anything Big Oil wants. Yet these people have voted 68-70% for her in the last few elections. And they also think she's one of them, meanwhile she was born in NYC, and has pocketed millions since being in Congress! Unbelievable!

THE SIDESTEP
From : "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas"
(Carol Hall)
Charles Durning

Fellow Texans, I am proudly standing here to humbly see.
I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don't speak out as plain as day?
And, fellow Texans, I'm for progress and the flag- long may it fly.
I'm a poor boy, come to greatness. So, it follows that I cannot tell a lie.

Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Now my good friends, it behooves me to be solemn and declare,
I'm for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer.
And now, my good friends, you can sleep nights, I'll continue to stand tall.
You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya'll...

Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Now, Miss Mona, I don't know her, though I've heard the name, oh yes.
But, of course I've no close contact, so what she is doing I can only guess.
And now, Miss Mona, she's a blemish on the face of that good town.
I am taking certain steps here, someone somewhere's gonna have to close her down.

Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don't-
I've come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep...

And, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step...

Cut a little swathe and lead the people on.

the teapartiers continue to vote for the party with policies which will directly hurt them - actually I have two hypotheses.

First, the majority of these teapartiers have "done all the right things" ... they completed high-school, they did not do drugs (to the point that it interfered with their lives), they went to church and, some even served in the military. And, as a result of doing the right thing, they took the types of jobs that their fathers had (or maybe, even one or two steps up the "job prestige ladder."

But their jobs haven't provided them with the security that their fathers provided ... If they are fortunate enough to not have had their jobs down-sized, off-shored or out-source; they find themselves working longer hours, at stagnated wages, gas is $3.00+/gal, and their house is underwater.

These teapartiers have been told all their lives that one's life's fortune is directly tied to one's hard-work and god's blessing. They, largely, HAVE worked hard; so does that mean they must not be under god's favor?

That proposition would be hard to accept, so they double down on their core belief ... work hard and currying god's favor. They work hard by working hard; they curry god's favor by mimicking the selfish, me-first, zero-sum behaviors of the ultra-wealthy, whom they believe have god's favor. And this translates into voting gop.

Either that, or see hypothesis 2;

The teapartiers want the system to remain exactly the way it is, so that when they win the lottery, or create the next MicroSoft, or earn enough at their just above minimum wage job to purchase their employer's business, or hell - they are just discovered for the genius that they are, they will be able to benefit from the stupidity that they will be able to leave behind.

I can very easily see that be true.

As to your 2nd hypothesis, I have heard for years the reason people don't want to tax the rich or allow tax cuts to the rich even if to pay for it you have to cut something they use/need/enjoy is they believe in the back of their minds they will be rich one day and are really looking for themselves.

Either way both are really good hypothesis' (or whatever the plural is) as to why this happens.

and perfectly phrased for a discussion with an anti-ACAer:

One begins to wonder, what is wrong with such a large segment of the a population that they are willing to go “revolutionary war” on the government because it provides them with quality affordable healthcare and expects those able to purchase coverage to do so instead of living off the largesse of 84% of Americans who do pay income taxes and purchase health insurance?

Especially, if followed up with:

Now, Republicans are making the general election about repealing the health law to return to the status quo when pre-existing conditions, lifetime limits, and reduced coverage was standard procedure

And ask, "is that what you really want? Really? Tell me why?" And just let them talk ... even the rightest of right-winger listening on will soon be embarassed.

It compels them to purchase coverage.
Forced compliance is NOT freedom.

You must understand the concern, before you can "EDUCATE EDUCATE EDUCATE!!"
