The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 46% of the vote, while President Obama earns 44%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Romney has a six-point advantage among unaffiliated voters. He also picks up 20% of the vote from White Democrats.

I can't believe this. Obama is NOT winning a single group he lost in 2008 and he is NOT doing better with any group (not even Blacks)that he won last time. I guess Rasmussen must be talking to Martians.

“...Mitt Romney attracting 46% of the vote, while President Obama earns 44%.”

I simply do not trust polls, but if those numbers are anywhere near the truth, I can’t see Romney winning.

If Romney doesn’t catch fire very soon, present new and bold ideas, and go after Obama, he is wasting everybody’s time.

Romney needs the votes of folks that can’t stand him (I am one of those), yet he seemingly refuses to give folks a reason to consider him. There is no vision, there is no excitement and there is no clear plan. Simply saying that he is going to fix sh!t just isn’t enough.

I hate Obama’s guts with everything I have within me. I truly believe that if Obama wins another 4 years, he and the dems will finish us off... but Romney shouldn’t count on that sentiment as being enough. He actually has to work at winning it.

To me, it seems as if Romney is simply running out the clock... I do not believe that will work against Obama.

I would have voted for Newt.

Folks need to settle down.

Romney will win, and he’ll win with the boring campaign he’s running... why?

SIMPLE

This election isn’t about ROMNEY, its about OBAMA.. this election is a referendum on OBAMA, and when you dig into the numbers he’s got zero chance of winning re-election.

Obama is viewed as extreme by 47% of the electorate vs 31% viewing Romney as extreme.. that right there tells you that Romney is going to win and win big.

Obamas only prayer at re-election was to paint his oponent as extreme and scaryier than 4 more years of him will be, and its just not happening nor will it happen.

He can’t top 42-43% of the vote if he handles everything perfectly.

I would have prefered Newt personally as well because I know he would have take the ideological battle to Obama.. but that’s not what we got.

And yes Romney certainly can run out the clock on Obama, and even with that boring strategy he’ll win by 12-15 points or more.

I believe you are correct. Romney is following the same strategy that worked well for him during the primaries.

He’ll bait Obama into wasting all his ammunition too early and will then proceed to unleash a massive attack from multiple fronts in the weeks leading up to the vote.

An ideological battle at this point would be a diversion. It’s much better to let the bad economic news dominate the headlines. They are essentially free attack ads against Obama.
