Centris Federal Credit Union used to be Bell FCU. It has a unionized workforce across several locations. While driving by the new location today I saw the banner and knew just what it meant. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I've already started the complaint process with other members we know from the old days.

(7,290 posts)1. Of course they SHOULD be hiring union labor
And unions should take them to task for this, but don't they have the legal right to hire whomever they want? The reason I'm asking is that I expected that a union should try to shame them into hiring union labor, but I'm surprised that they could file a labor dispute based on that.

(19,429 posts)3. Historically it was a credit union for telephone company employees, most of whom were union members
But that is long ago, and telephone company employees make up only a small part of the current membership.
Being a Credit "Union" doesn't have anything to do with being a Labor "Union", does it? Semantic confusion?

Nothing to do with each other. Credit unions are owned by the shareholders (people with accounts). They are non-profit an can provide better rates for the members that way.
Credit unions had a big increase in members last year with the occupy movement.
