(11,949 posts)It often includes high wind and lightening, but beats 3 months of drought.
We had 50MPH gusts here today. Gets the blood pumping I will say!

(11,949 posts)Assuming you are talking about hurricanes which I have enough of to last a life time.
But we be getting thunderstorms almost daily for the next 3 months. I truly love them but in a respectful manner.
Have a nice evening

(269,157 posts)Hurricanes are hurricanes but seven straight days of rain and10 inches in hours in some places creates a mess and destroys homes and infrastructure. Regular thunder storms are being replaced by much more intense storms.

My family is in Louisiana and the rain there over the last several years has convinced some of them that climate change is real. They are still wingers but it is a start.

(269,157 posts)Jamaica - as in hurricane alley.
The last time I saw rain like last week was 1976 - and Kingston got the least of it.
I've seen footage of Louisiana and yes - some serious rain in a short space of time - Texas too. You can't have 500 year floods every year and not worry about climate change.

Parts of Jamaica got way more than we wanted - bridges are down and people's homes are full of mud as rivers showed everyone who is boss. Stay safe

(269,157 posts)10 inches is plenty - although better in a week than 12 hours of heavy rain

(269,157 posts)Florida has been very lucky hurricane-wise during the Obama years but memories of Andrew 25 years later will flood Local 10 this season. Wish us all luck - here comes June.
